GRP Sectional Water Tank

GRP Sectional Water Tank Suppliers

Our GRP sectional water tank systems are modular water storage units made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, featuring light weight, corrosion resistance, leak-proof structure, and hygienic water quality. They are widely used in domestic water supply, fire-fighting water storage, and industrial water applications.
The standard panel sizes mainly include 1000×1000 mm, 1000×500 mm, and 500×500 mm.
The tank’s length, width, and height are assembled in multiples of 500 mm.
The capacity can be flexibly customized from 0.125 m³ up to 1500 m³ (even exceeding 2000 tons).
Although the initial investment is higher than traditional tanks, its benefits — light weight, easy installation, and simple maintenance — make it increasingly popular with users.

Parts of GRP Sectional Water Tank

  • Tie rods: Horizontally placed in the middle of the tank; the ends are bolted to steel side plates to resist the outward force of the panels when the tank is filled with water.

  • Vertical supports: Positioned vertically in the center to carry the pressure from the top tank panels.

  • Corner blocks: Installed at tank corners and secured with bolts, sealing gaps at panel edges to enhance the tank’s overall watertightness.

  • Flanges: Bolt-mounted interfaces for connecting the tank to external pipes or systems.

  • Sealing strips: Placed between the sides of adjacent panels; compressed and fastened with bolts to ensure a tight seal between panels.

Installation Guidelines of GRP Sectional Water Tank

  • Compact the foundation: Installation begins with preparing the foundation. The tank foundation consists of “reinforced concrete strips + channel steel distribution frame.” The concrete strips are cast in place, 30 cm wide, with spacing based on the width of the tank panels above, typically 1 m or 0.5 m. The strips must be strictly level and even.

  • Channel steel frame: The channel steel frame serves as the load-bearing structure between the concrete foundation strips and the tank bottom panels. The channel steel is welded according to the foundation layout drawings, paying attention to the orientation of the steel grooves.

  • Sealing strip orientation: GRP panels are sealed with rubber sealing strips, which have a thick side and a thin side. Correct orientation during installation is crucial for ensuring proper tank sealing.

  • Screw tightening: When installing screws, ensure they are properly tightened — tight enough to prevent leaks, but not so tight as to crack the panels or damage accessories.

GRP Sectional Water Tank Weight

The weight of a sectional GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) water tank varies depending on its size, panel thickness, and material. The following are reference weights for some common specifications:

Small Tanks
(1–5 tons)
Medium Tanks
(5–20 tons)
Large Tanks
(20 tons and above)
For example, 1-ton, 2-ton, 3-ton tanks. These tanks are usually compact in size and relatively light in weight, typically ranging from tens of kilograms to several hundred kilograms. The weight generally falls between 50 kg and 300 kg, depending on panel thickness and structural design. For example, 5-ton, 8-ton, 10-ton tanks. Their weight usually ranges from several hundred kilograms to a few tons. For instance, a 5-ton tank may weigh around 300–800 kg, while a 10-ton tank may weigh approximately 800–1500 kg.For large tanks such as 20-ton, 30-ton, or 50-ton models, the weight increases significantly, reaching several tons or even tens of tons. For example, a 20-ton tank may weigh 1500–3000 kg or more, and a 30-ton tank may weigh 3000–5000 kg or more.
