UV Water Sterilizer

UV Water Sterilizer Supplier

As a UV water sterilizer supplier in China, our systems are composed of core components including a stainless steel chamber, UV lamps, quartz sleeves, ballasts, and a control system. The sterilizer utilizes ultraviolet C (UV-C) radiation, with a primary wavelength of 253.7 nm, to disinfect water. By disrupting the DNA/RNA structure of microorganisms, it achieves physical sterilization without generating harmful chemical by-products, reaching a sterilization efficiency of up to 99.99% (4-log reduction). It is widely used in water disinfection applications such as secondary water supply for high-rise buildings, municipal water supply, building water systems, purified water production in the beverage industry, and swimming pool water treatment.

Ultraviolet sterilization is a physical treatment method. It does not produce harmful secondary pollutants such as trihalomethanes (THMs) during the process, nor does it alter the physical or chemical properties of the water. It also does not generate harmful halogenated methane compounds.

To ensure effective sterilization, there are specific requirements for the influent water quality. Conditions such as turbidity ≤ 1 NTU, suspended solids ≤ 5 mg/L, and UV transmittance ≥ 70% must be met. Therefore, pretreatment processes such as pre-filtration and activated carbon adsorption are usually required.

UV sterilizers are typically installed on the upstream side of the pump (inlet side) to avoid high-pressure impact on the UV lamps. The units are generally installed horizontally, with the inlet and outlet commonly configured as top-in and top-out. The installation location should be selected so that the disinfected water flows is not too long.

Compared with traditional chemical disinfection methods using chlorine or ozone, UV disinfection systems do not require the storage or transport of toxic or flammable substances, making operation and management simpler. They are compact in size, with a simple design and flexible installation options.

40W/55W Commercial UV Water Sterilizer

This UV sterilizer is economical and practical, featuring low initial cost, a small footprint, low operating expenses, and noise-free operation. It offers a high level of automation, is easy to operate and maintain, and can be equipped with an intelligent control system for remote monitoring and automatic adjustment.

Mechanism of action: UV radiation penetrates the microbial cell membrane → acts on genetic material → forms thymine dimers → causes DNA strand breakage → inactivates microorganisms. Achieves inactivation of over 99.99% of common pathogenic microorganisms within seconds.

FAQ of UV Water Sterilizer

How does uv light sterilize water?

Its sterilizing effect is primarily achieved by UVC radiation (200–280 nm), which inactivates microorganisms by damaging their DNA or RNA structure.

Horizontal installation is the mainstream choice for flow-through UV sterilizers, aligning with water flow dynamics to ensure effective disinfection and prolong equipment lifespan. Vertical installation is limited to small units with upward water flow and is prohibited in most scenarios. Proper installation is essential to achieve optimal performance.

The sterilizing lamp primarily purifies water by killing microorganisms, but it cannot directly clear turbid water; physical filtration and other methods are needed to achieve clear water.

When using a UV sterilizer in water treatment, the required disinfection time is extremely short—typically only 1 to 2 seconds—to achieve a 99%–99.9% sterilization rate, making it effective against common pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses.

Well water can be disinfected using a UV sterilizer, provided it meets the following basic water quality requirements:

  • Turbidity ≤ 15 NTU
  • Color ≤ 15 Hazen units
  • Iron content ≤ 0.3 mg/L
  • E. coli ≤ 800 CFU/L

If the well water exceeds these limits (e.g., high turbidity or iron content), it is recommended to perform sedimentation, filtration, or iron removal treatment before connecting it to the UV sterilizer.
