CHINA SUPPLIERS STATUS
In China, seawater reverse osmosis swro membrane technology for desalination has been continuously advancing. For example, Chinese scientists have developed a polyester-based reverse osmosis membrane that overcomes the chlorine resistance weakness of traditional polyamide membranes.
With strong policy support, seawater desalination — including reverse osmosis membrane technology — has been incorporated into China’s national strategic development plan.
However, there are still weaknesses in the industrial chain: one study indicates that domestically manufactured membrane reverse osmosis element for only about 10% of the market share in China’s seawater desalination sector, and a high proportion of raw materials are still imported.
